A Beautiful large antique Japanese Showa Kago bamboo Ikebana basket from the late Meiji period to the early Taisho era, Japan. This one of a kind handwoven flower arrangement wicker basket / vase appears to be woven from susutake bamboo (sooted bamboo), which gives the bamboo a warm, rich, reddish brown and deep black patina. The colors are strategically woven to create an artistic, eye pleasing design. With a natural root wood handle which has 4 intertwined separate pieces joined together. It measures: 18 tall (including the handle).
10 1 /4 tall (not including the handle). 8 across (at the widest point). 7 1/4 (at the basket opening). The condition is good with minor wear consistent with natural materials, age and use. Please message me with any questions.
